gee, what is this pinterest th- oh, no.

soo, it happened.

I apathetically avoided Pinterest for several months, mostly cause I didn't really understand what it was and was too lazy to try and figure it out. But all my friends were raving about it and all the cool kids were doing it so... I checked it out today. And then I didn't leave my room. For a day. Except to go to the kitchen to grab handfuls of Trader Joe's salt and cracked pepper chips. I may have gone to a crazy birthday party last night involving hot chocolate and rumpleminze which made me lazy beyond belief today.

I still don't really "get" it... like, what are you supposed to pin? how do you pin? what's the point of it all again? But I do really like scrolling through and looking at the pretty pictures and clicking on the links. It's like refined, feminine stumbling but with all the goods laid out in front of you so you're not clicking a button for hours hoping for the best. Or, it's like we heart it with links that go with the pictures. Either way, I like it. A little too much, perhaps.

Here are some cool things I found today:

mmmm, i love gin and tonics... except that one that had roofies in it (never trust an australian in mykonos). these look absolutely wonderful and sooo refreshing... something that would be wonderful in this atrocious heat!

This would be the cutest gift idea to give out to friends and family with little ones. you could buy everything in bulk and make a bunch of them to give away!

Bit 'sessed with this project. I've always thought having little candy bowls around the house is a cute idea, but these diy apothecary jars are even better than that.

so yeah... that was my day. oh, except for i found a little puppy to take home this weekend! I'm so freaking excited about it... i'll overwhelm you guys with pics and stuff once I get it :) hope you all had a nice, relaxing tuesday!

Tasty Tuesdays: The Spring InterKitcheNet

Hello lovelies, welcome to a brand new feature here on GO1000F. Tasty Tuesdays! I'm just killing you with the day-o-the-week alliteration, aren't I?

tasty tuesday are going to be a blast, oh yes they are! I'm very excited about them and you should be too because they're all about one of the best thing on the planet- food! Every tuesday I will be posting something fun and food related. I used to do recipes all the time on this blog (just click the recipe box icon on the right and you will see what I mean!), so there will be plenty more of those, but you might also find a restaurant review (I'll try to review restaurants outside of arizona as well so that you all can find some closer to you), a product review, a list of my go-to recipes, or something I've decided to title the InterKitcheNet, which will be made up of themed lists of recipes around the internet that I've been gawking over the past week. Are you pumped yet? I know I am.

Since I'm all in the spirit of spring, today's InterKitcheNet is all about spring time recipes! pastel colored treats and herby quiches and lemony cocktails have been flooding the internet and my google reader for days now, and they are all soo drool-worthy. I urge you to check these out! Just click on the title above each picture :)

Noble Pig's Roasted Radish Potato Salad. I revolt against mayonnaise-drowned mushy potato salad. long live this light and vinaigrette-y alternative! yumm.

The Food In My Beard's Grilled Veggie Pasta Primavera. Pasta Primavera literally means Spring Pasta... so how could it not make this list? Grilling the veggies is a wonderful spring-weather technique that I've got to try. I bet it's so smoky and delicious!

Dulce de Leche's Grilled Avocado on Toast with Parmesan. I don't care how simple this is. I want it. Grilling avocado? How have I never thought of this before?!

Marcus Samuelsson Spring Asparagus Tart. There's just something about flaky crusts filled with artisan cheeses and crisp greens that gets me every time.

Savoring Time In the Kitchen's Baked Eggs in Croissant Nests. I'm not usually a big fan of eggs, but I can always appreciate a creative way of cooking them... and creamy dijon sauce? I'd be helpless against that.

First Look, Then Cook's Cucumber Yum Yum Cocktail. Cucumber, Raspberries, Limes, Gin... can you think of a more refreshing-sounding combo? I really hope I get the chance to try this this spring.

All Day I Dream About Food' Meyer Lemon Mousse. I'm utterly obsessed with lemons... but I usually don't go for them in sweets. Lemon cakes, cookies, even bars... they all get a resounding 'meh'. This though... I think I could definitely go for one of these. or maybe 5. By the way? If anyone would like to mail me a box of meyer lemons, I will award you unlimited awesomeness points.

Drink of the Week's Black Rose. *whimper* so pretty... so, so pretty... i want one.

Joylicious' Grilled Red Fish and Shrimp Ceviche. I haven't had ceviche since I was little (with the exception of one bite while I was in mexico last winter), but I can vouch for it being delicious. If you can wrap your mind around the whole citrus-and-salt-cooking-raw-fish-in-your-fridge thing, you should so, so make it.

Taylor Takes a Taste's Red Pepper and Pineapple Infused Vodka. This is going on my to-do list right now. I experimented with making infused vodka last holiday season and just loved the results... and seriously, red pepper flakes and pineapple are two of my favorite things on the planet. Every pizza I get has pineapple and something spicy like jalapenos or green chilis... so I really can't imagine this not being amazing.
Happy spring food-gawking and cooking! Have a very tasty tuesday ;)

gah, I'm such a dork :)

Love,
Em

a link for your thursday night

so... when you hit the "stumble upon" button, it's not supposed to show you stuff you've already said you like or don't like, right? and yet while I was stumbling today I was brought back to a page that I stumbled on just a couple months ago and loved. in fact, i think I had been planning on blogging about it but just forgot! The page is a list of 50 life secrets and tips and there are some really good ones on there. You should definitely check it out if you haven't already seen it.

here are a few of my favorites:
1. don't take life so seriously
2. sleep less- I definitely need to start working on this one! I'd love to be one of those 5 hr a night sleepers (who actually feel rested!)
3. visualize daily
4. meditate
5. be the kind of person that makes others feel special
6. read something inspirational right before you go to bed and right after you wake up
7. do what you love

there are tons of great tips and explanations on the site to help live your live fully, happily, and productively! check it out, it's definitely worth a read.

Love this...

I stumbled on this yesterday and I just love it. I totally want to do a social experiment like this... I have a couple ideas but nothing I've gotten off the ground yet. What do you want to do before you die?

some links to kick off your week

Yknow, I spend a fair amount of time stumbling- both on my computer or on my phone when I'm stuck somewhere waiting for something- and yet for some reason I never fill you guys in on the cool stuff I find. I know a lot of bloggers do links posts every so often, so I thought I might as well join the club. Here are some fun, pretty, cool, humorous, or delicious links to kick off your week and help you procrastinate this monday :)

I have been dying to make this concord grape and rosemary focaccia ever since I realized there are several very abundant rosemary bushes on campus that are just asking to be trimmed and put into delicious meals. Too bad Tucson seems to be devoid of concord grapes!

Stewie and I drink a TON of tea, so it's always fun finding cool tea accessories. Some of them seem pretty pointless (like the tea light) but others (like the tea bag coffin mug) seem pretty cool!

I really love this idea. Basically I love turning anything into a chalkboard anything :)

This list of life secrets and tips was really interesting. There are some great ideas there, like meditate every day, adjust your sleep schedule, come up with a life mantra, and read something inspirational every day. Some useful advice!

This wedding is full of crafty, beautiful, DIY touches. So pretty and so many good ideas- for any event!

How much would you love to spend two weeks here? looks like the ultimate tropical getaway. Soooo beautiful. And probably soooo expensive :)

You've probably already seen this viral video, but I think it is the cutest thing ever!!

This is my go-to bread recipe. It makes a ton and is really flexible- you can add garlic, dried fruit, herbs, olives, whatever. Also, it's vegan!

I really like this break down of restaurant types. I definitely agree with the thing about limited menu options vs everything under the sun- it's such a pet peeve of mine when people on yelp mark a restaurant down because there arent a gazillion menu options. It's way better to do a few things really well than 100 things mediocre!

This game shows pictures of objects from famous movies and you have to guess what the movie is hangman style. Fun :)

This vintage 50s dress from etsy is so pretty. Too bad 150$ is basically how much I can afford to spend on clothes a year!

There ya go! Hope you have a great week :)

Love,
Em
