So! I've decided at long last to jump on this whole blog bandwagon thing before it gets so popular EVERYONE has one, and then fizzles out (ahem, myspace...). I've thought blogs are a pretty interesting new outlet for information and creativity for a while now, and being a communications major/art minor, I figure I should fit right in.
Obviously there's a gazillion things to blog about, and you can pretty much find someone's personal input on ANYTHING these days... for instance, my darned cute boyfriend S just started a blog on Paper Role Play Games. Apparently they're a pretty big deal. Who knew, eh? Well anyways, I wouldn't have much to add on the RPG front, but I do know a thing or two about cooking, literature, music, art, travel, photography, film, love, and life in general. Not to sound like a know-it-all or anything. I am, after all, merely a self-proclaimed expert.
You may have noticed that's several topics- most blogs tend to revolve around just one. Personally, my mind is way too chaotic and hyperactive for that kind of organization- so my compromise is to just stick to the things I know best, and attempt to put them down here in a way that will (hopefully) be amusing and informative for all of you.
Now before you go and get all excited, let me give you a little more information about just what kinds of things I'm likely to write about. I love love LOVE food and cooking, but I'm a [hypocritical] vegan- meaning, if you're the type that guzzles down meat by the truckload and can't survive without your daily glass of milk, proceed with caution. Not that you wont still find my recipes and suggestions fabulously delicious, you just wont find any homages to bacon explosions. However, you probably noticed I said I'm a hypocritical vegan. A vegan is someone who doesn't eat ANY animal products- meat, dairy, eggs, you get the picture. A hypocritical vegan like myself will occasionally "cheat"... I've been known to nibble on a log of Chèvre with a glass of wine, or indulge in a block of Cadbury's dairy milk chocolate. But I mean, c'mon... it's just too damn good to give up forever (Don't hate me, fellow veggies- I still hate the meat and dairy industries. Grrrr >.<). Basically what I'm getting at here is that yes, my recipes will be vegetarian, and mostly vegan- but nearly all of them can be adapted for omni use :)
Well then, as for the other things you might find here- yes, I am a college student at a liberal arts school. I wear scarves and boots and thrift store dresses. I read alternative literature and watch independent films. However, don't write me off for your typical boho private-school snobby snob hipster kid (unless you're into that kind of thing). I grew up in Arizona and I've been around the block a few times- I know all about working for a dollar and I've befriended many liberals and conservatives alike. I've seen some pretty crazy things, and if nothing else I'm sure I can fill you in on a couple artists you might not have heard of or books that will probably change your life (just sayin'...). So hey, poke around a bit, check up every once in a while, you're bound to find something that sparks your interest.
Well, there we go... the boring introductory jibber jabber is done! Now we can get down to business... whatever that may be. Tata for now, loves.
